Our Activities

In the hands of SOEC outdoor tutors, activities are excellent for young people to develop essential qualities (leadership, confidence, resilience) and skills (communication, teamwork, problem solving etc).

Activities can be adventurous, environmental, leisure based, challenging, and educational.  Most importantly they will be fun. The links below show how activities support specific outcomes.

Activities are incorporated into programmes e.g. Transition to Secondary, Transition to Work, Eco-programmes or Field Studies, Adventure or Exploration. The skill and commitment of the SOEC staff team ensure young people remain comfortable undertaking challenging activities, and stretch them beyond their comfort zone, while making sure they’re receptive to learning by staying motivated and having fun. Programmes begin on arrival day and finish on departure day.  We have some flexibility in arrival/departure times to suit group needs.  Many activities take place on-site in our 30+ acres of grounds to allow more time on activities and less time travelling. We may include some off-site activities in nearby locations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS

For pupils, SOEC can provide Certificates of Attendance, that capture their experience.

For parents and teachers, SOEC can provide a school talk.

For teachers, we welcome opportunities to collaborate and work in partnership with you to create new and bespoke programmes and we are always pleased to welcome you for an advance visit to show you round and talk to you about the programmes we can offer.

“All the activities were amazing.

The dorms were fantastic and the food was great. I used to be terrified of heights but after my stay I’m completely cured.”
