Centre Managers – Programme Leaders

Mark Campbell, Broomlee Centre Manager

Mark Campbell

Mark Campbell – Broomlee Centre Manager

Mark has been involved in the outdoors since joining the Scouts.

He’s been climbing for over 25 years and still spends any free time playing in the mountains or paddling all day then cooking dinner over an open fire on bushcraft canoe journeys.

Mark’s passion for the outdoors saw him change career to work in outdoor education. In the past he has worked in a range of jobs including as a time served monumental mason, an insurance salesman, industrial rope access technician, rock climbing instructor and stone carving tutor to name just a few.

Fifteen years ago he returned to university to read for an outdoor studies degree before starting work full-time in the outdoors.

He has worked all over the UK and Channel Islands as an outdoor education instructor, bush craft instructor and environmental education tutor.

Adventurous activities provide people with opportunities to challenge themselves and set their own goals. Seeing people leave our centres with greater self-esteem, confidence and believing they can achieve more than they thought, is the reason that Mark will tell you “deciding to work in the outdoors is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life”.

Mark is a firm believer in the power of outdoor education and its ability to change people’s lives and is never happier than when he is helping others enjoy, understand and appreciate the outdoors.
