Residential Outdoor Environmental Experience

Eco-centres

Our ROEE programme aims to engage pupils with the natural environment. By allowing children to experience directly the joys of the natural world through environmental games and challenges, ROEE encourages an awareness of and empathy towards nature. Much of the activity on the ROEE and ROEE+ programme ties into the curriculum and work in the classroom.

At A Glance

  • Both programmes focus on increasing environmental awareness and understanding our place in the environment through a series of activities such as "Living out of Doors" or "River Detectives"..
  • ROEE is designed for  upper primary school age children
  • ROEE+ explores more complex environmental concepts and is designed for slightly older pupils, or those who have previously experienced ROEE.
  • ROEE and ROEE+ are both 4 nights in duration

Learning Outcomes

  • Greater environmental awareness.
  • An understanding of concepts such as food chains, habitats and bio-diversity.
  • An increased appreciation and understanding of each person’s place in the environment.
  • Increased confidence to make decisions that affect the natural world.
