Loaningdale Centre
Loaningdale is the smallest of SOEC’s Centres and this lends it an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. As accommodation is uniquely self-contained, groups often have exclusive use of the Centre.
Loaningdale has spectacular views to the neighbouring hills and the ancient market town of Biggar is an easy walk away.
Our Facilities
- Loaningdale’s accommodation is primarily in one building, making it possible for one leader to monitor a group. With capacity to house up to 120 people, Loaningdale also has a gym hall and numerous classrooms so is well suited to music and field study groups.
- Group leader facilities include a private lounge, an office with full IT facilities, phone and print photocopier, and if required, separate accommodation in Loaningdale House.
- Loaningdale Centre also has a corporate boardroom, popular for team and staff meetings.
Out & About
- The busy market town of Biggar is only a 5 minute walk away and has a number of tourist attractions including five museums and the Purves Puppet Theatre.
- Local amenities include a bank, post office, supermarket and many pubs and restaurants, and there is a regular bus service to Edinburgh, Dumfries, Lanark and Peebles.
- Impressive local hills and the Biggar boating pond allow for a range of off-site activities.
